In US government agencies, including the intelligence community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation for the abbreviation “OBE” is “Overcome by Events”. (2024). How “The Agency” (released in Great Britain in 2024; 10 episodes with a duration of 50 to 60 minutes) begins with the fact that we meet the Martian, an employee of the CIA, who is suddenly called back to London after 6 years in Africa. Arriving at his new apartment in London, he discovers that listening devices are installed everywhere.

Then we go to Belarus, where a clearly drunk man gets into his car and, pursued by the Belarusian police, crashes but survives. A few comments: this mini-series is based on the previously well-known French series “Bureau of Legends”. This is the last film of British director, Oscar winner Joe Wright (“Darkest Howe”). There is a LOT going on as episode 1 unfolds (at least 3 parallel storylines) and it took me a while to see and understand the big picture.

Speaking of episode 2, I was totally into it because there is tension and drama everywhere. This mini-series largely benefits from the excellent lead role of Michael Fassbender (as the Martian). By the end of Episode 2, I was (and am) ready for more. The first two series began to be broadcast on SHO a few days ago.
I can’t wait!
