Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. I’ve watched the first two episodes and while there’s a clear attempt to make a “goofballs in space” point here, what’s wrong with that? This is a very different take on the story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I liked the look of a suburban town in this world because we’ve never actually seen one. The town they came from reminded me more of E.T.’s neighborhood than anything we’ve seen in the shows recently. The four main characters are typical but fun, each with their roles clearly defined within the group and well-played by the actors. The pirate vibe isn’t necessarily something we’ve seen before, and it adds a slightly creepy element and an atmosphere of danger. If this were an 80s movie, it would fit right in. I’m enjoying it so far for the new storytelling elements of the Star Wars universe, the hint of nostalgia for the films from my childhood, and the fact that I get to share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
