I saw this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival
I don’t see Peruvian films often because Peruvian cinema is quite rare to come out. This is one of the few Peruvian films I’ve seen, this one is quite good.
Frame and presentation used throughout
Filmmaker Klaudia Reynicke certainly makes an interesting and personal observation of the family dynamic between father and daughters, and the dynamic was well executed with good performances, strong direction and some very good moments of dialogue. The narrative is simple and while predictable and slightly corny, the emotional core, direction and good performances help keep the story interesting.
Overall, it’s a good, warm and sweet film
Including an interesting insight into the political turmoil in Peru and the dynamic relationships between father and children.
