Parthenope is a woman named after her city. Siren or myth? In Greek myth, Parthenope is the siren who commits suicide after failing to enchant Odysseus. Her body was washed by the tide to where Castel dell’Ovo is now built, thus giving the name to the city that would later become Neapolis, Naples. Paolo directing Gary is a 10/10. Great movie. He is a wonderful director and a great actor. Gary Oldman definitely carried the whole movie, and Paolo Sorrentino made a great choice in casting Gary Oldman as John Cheever. The story is good. The movie is typically Artsy Fartsy like all things Paolo Sorrentino. John Cheever is a great character played by the fantastic Gary Oldman and his character definitely made the movie so good. This movie is definitely worth watching if you like Gary Oldman movies or arthouse charmers. Paolo Sorrentino is a great director and the movie made me think. It is truly an underrated masterpiece.
