Is she a siren or a myth?
Plot
Partenope is a woman who bears the name of her city. In Greek mythology, Parthenope is a siren who killed herself after failing to enchant Odysseus. Her body was carried by a flood to the place where the Castel dell’Ovo now stands, and she gave her name to the city that would become Naples: Naples.
What is Parthenope but a love letter to youth?
Partenope is the quintessential city of Naples in the film. HeatWritten by Peter Gregson, played by Peter Gregson, Warren Zielinski, Magdalena Filipczak, Laurie Anderson, Ashok Klouda. Celeste dalla Porta embodies all the years we have lived and forgotten, all the pain and love we have gone through, all the nights we have woken up talking nonsense.
It’s impossible not to fall in love with her
Sorrentino was able to capture her beauty and make a film about it. She’s more of an ideal woman, a kind of deity: too perfect to be true. How can you not watch in awe as her meditative gaze turns into a smile: falling in love is so easy.
This creates a sense of artificiality that can be distracting and annoying
That’s why I declare: a new diva is born, a timeless star, forever young. Without Celeste, the film seems to be just searching for the best shots and poetic quotes. The narrative is loose and the plot is largely nonexistent, as the film is more concerned with achieving aesthetics than creating a coherent story.
I hope you can be too
It’s an artistic choice that some may like and others may hate. I love Celeste dalla Porta in this film and I’m more than happy.
