MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE is a dark comedy that follows the journey of Merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), a U.S. Army veteran in Afghanistan, who finds herself at odds with her family over the presence of Zoe (Natalie Morales), her dead best friend. friend. the military. Despite the tenacity of her VA advisor (Morgan Freeman), the tough love of her mother (Gloria Reuben), and the ease of an unexpected love interest, Merit’s dysfunctional friendship with Zoe isolates the couple from the world. That is until Merit’s estranged grandfather (Ed Harris), who lives in the family’s old lakeside home, starts to lose his way and needs the one thing he won’t give up: help.
