A modern-day story about finding fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs
Watch writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV series on IMDb, sorted by user rating. A landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, acts as a middleman between the exploration companies and the landowners. Typically, a land manager’s job is to negotiate and enter into contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas.

Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, living quarters for the workers (man camps), assemble the excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solver, and mediator. It’s formula television, but from a writer who will be remembered in a few decades in much the same way Norman Lear is remembered today. The difference here seems to be geography.
Oil industry accuracy issues?
It’s another niche western show with genius marketing coupled with great performances from top-notch actors. Seemingly. Inappropriateness about mother-daughter-father family dynamics? Yes.
Larter is at his best and looks phenomenal
Does that mean none of this plays out the same way in real life? It doesn’t matter, it’s a dynamic production and fun to watch. Thornton is slated for the role, although I read it was initially written just for him. Lots of interesting stuff, except the only oddity is that Demi Moore is cast in all 10 episodes.
If not, then I wonder what the offer is there
I’ve seen all five of the movies that have aired so far and if it’s not just me, I can only remember seeing and hearing her once or twice for a brief moment in her pool. Hamm’s character isn’t seen that often either but he’s played well and he brings his character to the point but Moore’s character just isn’t allowed to add anything so far. Maybe it’s written that way and she’ll play a role in later episodes.
