It is a prequel to the original Dune, telling the story of how the Brotherhood of Evil evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The case of Valya Harkonnen’s voice acting is in the 'Mentats of Dune' All three books deal with the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors. This spinoff is more Game of Thrones than Dune.
It’s a great twist on a beloved film franchise
Still, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I expected it to be and more. Let me start by saying that I’ve never read the source material or seen the original film. My Dune experience is based on the two Dune movies that came out in the last few years, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.
I love them both so much that I had high hopes for this series
Those two movies (especially Dune: Part II) are two of my favorite movies I’ve seen in years. Dune: Prophecy is a series that takes place 10,000 years before the start of the Dune movies and tells the story of how the Harkonnen sisters founded the Bene Gesserit to fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity. The show may be more like Game of Thrones than Dune, but it’s still…a lot of fun.
The great thing about this show is that it does exactly what it set out to do: deepen your understanding of the Bene Gesserit
You don’t have to have seen the two Dune movies to enjoy this, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you do.
