Can someone explain that to me?

I had to watch this movie a couple of times because I thought I missed some key points that I didn’t quite understand. I still don’t understand how Rick is still alive but has passed his sins. Hasn’t he passed all his sins?
I liked it in the beginning
Is that why he still sees the girl he shot and his fingerprints wouldn’t be scattered around the crime scene? I think this movie had the potential to be better. I don’t think I would recommend this movie to anyone.
Maybe I’ll watch it later and try to figure it out again
