After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot named Rose is stranded on a desert island. In order to survive the harsh conditions, Roz bonds with the animals on the island and takes care of an orphaned baby goose. Lupita Nyong’o is joined by writer-director Chris Sanders to discuss the meaningful end credits and their time spent making Wild. Robot Together. According to writer Peter Brown, the inspiration for Wild Robot; came from a sketch he did of a robot in a tree. He then asked the question, “What would an intelligent robot do in the desert?” When the fox enters the cabin, the moose purrs at the door, but the sound effect is a recording of a bear. Listen, my expectations were already pretty high. This is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, ever since I saw the first trailer and then skipped the rest to avoid spoilers. But even so, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this might be the best animated film DreamWorks has ever made. Seriously, seeing is believing. This is truly one of the most visually beautiful cartoons ever made. It’s simply stunning from start to finish, filled with awe and unparalleled beauty that fills the screen with color and life. It really does look like a Studio Ghibli animation based on Monet paintings and sometimes it’s even hard to process everything they have to show. It’s definitely the most influential animation I’ve seen since the first Spider-Verse; and an evolution of what the studio did with Bad Boys; and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and if you’re hesitant, this one is even prettier than all of them. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in IMAX and maybe even in 3D and I’ll definitely be lucky when it officially comes out, but even in a regular theater XD it was a magnificent spectacle that drew me in. It takes your breath away in every frame. The story itself is quite simple in its concept and essence and if there’s one thing that could make some people criticize the movie, it’s probably this. But I don’t understand why anyone would, because everything they want to do is done in a unique and compelling way. I think people forget that even simple stories like this take a lot of effort to make it work, and this movie looks easy because it doesn’t even have to do much and it immediately wins you over. It’s an incredibly exciting journey from start to finish, full of beautiful themes and charming and lovable characters to remember. The pacing is relaxed and knows how to take your time with just the right amount of patience, the action is measured but when it does happen it’s inspiring, and the emotional moments hit hard but never forced but because they earn it with everything they do. We built it up victoriously. The humor and melodrama are perfectly balanced, although it focuses more on the dramatic side but it’s one of those that just warms your heart in a very cozy and touching way.
